Built To Impact ® is a coaching company that helps coaches, consultants and service-based entrepreneurs master their message, package their expertise, and make money online.

Our mission is to help our clients begin their wealth-building journey by teaching them how to launch, grow, and scale their own training programs and high-end services to six-figures and beyond. 

We host a fun, high-touch annual event called Impact Weekend Live and our signature program, Built To Impact Accelerator, is where we work with our clients closely for 12 weeks to help them launch their high-end service and generate a minimum of $10,000/month consistently.

Why it matters

Although it’s normal for larger companies to create “annual reports” and share their earnings, money is still a taboo topic for freelancers, solopreneurs, and micro-businesses.

We share my company’s revenue publicly for 3 reasons:

  1. We want to show black women, women of faith, and new entrepreneurs what is possible for them.
  2. We want to educate entrepreneurs and service providers on what the journey looks like.
  3. We’re excited about our growth and want to share that excitement with our community.

We realize that revenue is a MEASURE of impact but not what makes us impactful. That’s why we also show the transformation behind the revenue.

This year-in-review only shows about 1% of the hard work and dedication from my team and clients… but my hope is that you see what’s possible and what’s necessary to continue having a greater impact and making more money doing what you love.

Vision
I made a decision years ago that I wanted to run a multi-million dollar company helping women make money with their gifts. I’ve done just that.

Commitment
I’m no stranger to hard work, but as I’ve scaled rapidly, I was reminded that mental toughness plays a big part in work ethic. I remained committed on the days I doubted myself or wanted to give up.

Strategic Execution
We’ve gotten crystal clear on our ideal client, our offers, and how to create amazing experiences. Every move we make is a result of studying data within our industry and our company.

The money my company makes allows me to create a bigger impact by giving generously and hiring the right people to give our clients the right support. Money makes you more of who you are. And with generosity being one of my core values, I’ve had the pleasure of giving tens of thousands of dollars to black businesses. In 2022, look forward to intentionally measuring that number to share as inspiration.

The more you have, the more you have to give. Wealth in the right hands is a win.

Give up or Keep Going?

halfway through the year, I considered taking a 6-month hiatus.
here’s what happened instead…

Being a CEO and public figure can be incredibly challenging.

In the moments that I wanted to release those titles, I had to go back to my “why”. If I was doing all of this for the money, it would make my life so much easier because the money is the easy part. But I’m not driven by money. I’m driven by impact.

Showing up when you don’t need the money is a different story. It’s when you DON’T need the money that your  commitment and obedience is tested. I decided to keep going.

As a result, we launched two more times. We enrolled 32 new clients. We made an additional $300k. We helped 12 more women launch, and 10 of those clients had a five-figure launch.

It first started with a:

All milestones I’m so proud of surpassing.

For those of you who haven’t been following me since before 2016, I am a brand strategist, business coach, and speaker that helps entrepreneurs master their message and attract high-end clients. I’ve been selling service-based offerings for $2,000+ as a designer, speaker, and course creator since 2015, and I entered the online branding space in 2008.

I have literally been making money on the internet for 13 years. My success is inevitable because of:

💃🏽 consistency

But the other things that are inevitable along the way are:
😞 losses
🤦🏽‍♀️ failures
😭 tears
🤔 doubt

As a coach, I’ve spent a lot of time helping my clients AVOID hurdles, but in this new season, I’m realizing that I also need to help them PREPARE for it.

Loss is 10x harder to recover from when it blindsides you.

“You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.” – Admiral James Stockdale, 7-year prisoner of war survivor.

The brutal fact is that things will not always go how you want them to go. The brutal fact is that you will lose money, you will lose relationships, and in certain seasons, you will lose your mind.

Ironically, losses are not reserved for losers. They are inevitable circumstances that winners experience on their path to success.

Not knowing how to handle Ls will keep you from Ms.

You know the difference between the Maya Elious that was making Myspace pages for $45 in college and the Maya who runs a multi-million dollar company?

She kept going.

And that mostly describes what happened in 2021. I simply decided to keep going.

Success requires resiliency.

And that resiliency allowed me to hire my first full-time employee, double my revenue, and increase my client success rate.

When it was hard. When it was fun. When I could’ve shut everything down and retired. When I didn’t want to be obedient. When I didn’t give a crap about the money. REGARDLESS OF HOW I FELT, I kept going.

I’m really grateful for praying friends, big-thinking colleagues, and for my resilience.

My advice to you? Don’t do this alone. Some days I only kept going because someone in my circle nudged me.
